Junior

A true icon of Sun Charters and Atabeyra, Junior has been on Atabeyra for almost twenty years. Everybody who knows Junior loves him — he has a story and a smile for everyone he meets. Junior takes great pride in showing guests the magic of sailing in the Caicos Cays.

Second Mate, Head Stewardess

Willy

Willy is definitely the good looks of the crew — she keeps all the guys in line. Willi runs the galley and makes a mean rum punch. Watch out, she will make sure your cup never gets empty.

Jenny

The true brains of the operation and accountant extraordinaire. She loves a day on the water under sail — just don’t ask her to tie any knots.

Erik

Erik has been on Atabeyra since he could walk — it’s in his blood. A manager and captain for all boats, he has a passion for sharing these waters that he grew up in. You can’t get him out of the water if there are dolphins, whales, or sharks around.

Pau

Pau is our local Mallorcan. Although we don’t have great Paella here, he enjoys the true beauty and exclusiveness of the Turks and Caicos — and brings a Mediterranean warmth to everything he does on board.

Chief Mascot & Dolphin Radar

Fin

Fin is our mascot — he occasionally rides along and is the best dolphin radar around. Fin’s favourite thing to do is swim with the resident dolphins, who also love to play with him. A local potcake, Fin is truly an island dog: he loves to swim and run on the beach.

Sun Charters was founded in 1997, built around a single vessel: Atabeyra — a 70-foot gaff-rigged schooner originally built as a trading “rum runner” that made regular voyages between the Dominican Republic and Providenciales, carrying rum, beer, fruits, and vegetables.

Today, Sun Charters offers a range of unique sailing experiences — from shared snorkel cruises and sunset sails to private luxury charters aboard MarieHelene, our 65-foot Privilege catamaran, and high-performance day trips on Mamba.

We go beyond the typical charter routes — seeking out secluded beaches, pristine reefs, and hidden corners of the islands that many visitors never see. With deep local roots and a hands-on approach, we’re dedicated to delivering authentic, high-quality experiences on the water.
